A man describes his experiences of gender based violence.
He explains why he does not not identify as a survivor.
“I don’t know, I feel like I’ve not had enough done to me to be categorised as a survivor. But if someone else who had my story was saying that to me, I’d tell them it doesn’t matter—you still had stuff done to you. There is no limit for it. But when it comes to myself, it’s just kind of, you know, a hypocritical situation.
For me, it’s different for some reason. There is this idea that if I put a label on it, then it becomes more real.”
